UNIVERSAL PICTURES RETURNS TO ABU DHABI FOR FAST & FURIOUS 7 HOME THEATRE RELEASE
Following the incredible success of the theatrical release of Fast & Furious, which earned over $1.5 billion globally, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment chose Abu Dhabi to host the home theatre release press junket in July. The film will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in August 2015 on various dates around the world including 12 August in the UAE.

Facilitated by twofour54 and the Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), the event participants included leading press outlets such as The Huffington Post, MTV.com, “Access Hollywood,” Yahoo Movies, Agencia EFE, The Sun News, “ET Canada,” Univision’s “Despierta America,” and many others. The group of reporters, experienced an array of automotive and cultural experiences including Emirates Palace and Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, which were both featured in the film. Tyrese Gibson was interviewed by international and UAE outlets including Gulf News, “ET Arabia,” Abu Dhabi Media and Sky News Arabia, among others.
IBN AL-HAYTHAM IS NOW IN CHINA
China’s biggest science festival held last July, hosted "1001 Inventions and the World of Ibn Al-Haytham", a short film starring Omar Sharif, who passed away on 10 July, 2015. Ibn Al-Haytham named after the 11th century Middle Eastern scholar was unveiled as "the festival’s official mascot and guest of honour", mirroring the lead animated character of the short film. It was produced by British organisation "1001 Inventions" in association with Blink Studios, a twofour54 campus partner.
SANAD FILM FUND UPDATE
twofour54 announced that its film development and post-production fund, SANAD received record submissions for its 2015 cycle.

The Sanad team confirmed 101 projects were submitted for development funding while 77 submissiones were received for post-production. Nearly half of the submissions were first feature projects in the 2015 session, 87 projects in total compared to 51 in 2014.

SANAD also recently announced its partnership with Final Cut in Venice, a workshop of the 72nd Venice International Film Festival where selected films are presented to producers, buyers, distributors and film festival programmers. SANAD will provide a cash prize of 10,000 Euros to support the best Arab film participating in the workshop’s selection.
SEASON 2 OF THE SMOVIES, HAS NOW LAUNCHED!
The second season of the Smovies, a platform developed by twofour54-based marketing firm, BrandMoxie, in partnership with VOX Cinemas, has been launched with a narrative challenge themed “The Message” or #SmoviesMessage,. The month long competition has a deadline of 15 August. The winning films from Season 1 of The Smovies competition have been screening at VOX Cinemas since July. The winner of the season, “The Spartan Surprise” by Faisal Hashmi, was screened across VOX Cinemas prior to the main feature, along with second place winner “The Epiphany” and third place winner “Please Don’t Steal My Show.”

Seven shortlisted films received screen time, with special selections “NONSENSE” by Maha Tareq Almehairbi, “TV Watching” by Ankit Ojha & Zaw Aly, “You Are Not Alone” and “Sameer Antulay” by Vasilis Billy Blioumis also screened.

WE ARE EXPANDING
Building 5 is the newest addition to the twofour54 campus. This expansion comes as part of our efforts to support our partners’ growth requirements. The new building space is approximately 5,500 SQM and can house up to 60 new partners joining the zone. We continue to plan our further expansion in both the short and long term.
TWOFOUR54 LAUNCHES NEW POST PRODUCTION FACILITIES
twofour54 unveiled its new post production facilities, which have been completely refurbished, offering an experience unmatched anywhere in the MENA region and reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading media hub. The facilities now offer multi-purpose suites with editing, audio and market leading colour grading equipment. Another key addition is the 18-seater Screening Room that has Christie True 4k cinema projection and Dolby surround sound.

The campus has now also expanded its retail offering to include Starbucks and welcome them into the campus.
